Also don't forget e39's have side airbags and door anchors so the door should not cave in when hit from the side. It's actually a very very safe vehicle for the early 2000's. TREMENDOUSLY safer then American cars during that time.

'78 320i Is it possible to swap in ISOFIX car seat latches in an early e39? I purchased a 2001 525i Touring. I was wonder, *if* I located a car with the isofix carseat latches, can they be installed with minimal fabrication? My son is barely in the car, but if its a weekend project, it could be worth it. I believe its part #23 on this diagram

iTrader: ( 0) I can confirm that both getting the seats into the Isofix points, and buckling the seat belts in is a royal pain in the ass. Fortunately, as another poster has already mentioned, once they're in, they're in, so the Isofix bit doesn't cause too much of an issue.

4427 posts · Joined 2008. #6 · Oct 11, 2010. Isofix is a common standard adopted by car manufacturers & child seat makers. It basically means any isofix child seat should fit any car. Isofix has two little U shaped bars welded to the metal behind the rear if the seat.

Id budget on a new clutch and flywheel, if not while the blower is being installed then very soon afterwards 1k-ish for aftermarket or similar for an E34 M5 kit.
